Once an organization has decided to go ahead with an ERP implementation like SAP or Oracle, the biggest question is that of implementation cost. In deciding how many resources will be required in terms of manpower, money, time etc, it is important to plan ahead. Typical costs involved in implementing SAP or Oracle Applications ERP include the following. 1. Cost of the Software - For ERPs, the cost is calculated based on the number of users licenses that are required in the organization. 2. Migration of Legacy Data - Implementation costs also include costs of migration of data from the legacy system to SAP or Oracle. 3. Customizing User Interface - Costs may include customization of the user interface or ERP to suit the needs of the business. 4. Implementation Complexity - Costs go up in case your business is complex and how indepth the implementation of the ERP SAP package is going to be. 5. Implementation Consultant Costs - SAP R/3 or Oracle applications implementation projects are normally handled by implementation consultants who help in implementing the solution. 6. Internal Project Team - An internal team also needs to be set up which will coordinate with the implementation consultants. The internal project team costs also form a major part of the SAP implementation costs. 7. Training - After the ERP is implemented, the final thing before go live is user training. Organizations normally do not budget for training costs, however proper training of users is one of the most important factors in the success of ERP (SAP Oracle) implementation.
